During IV sedation, a skilled anesthesiologist from Pediatric Dental Anesthesia Associates administers medication directly into your child’s bloodstream through a small needle placed in a vein. This approach creates a deeper level of relaxation than nitrous oxide while allowing our team to complete the necessary dental care safely and efficiently. Your child will be deeply relaxed, but not fully unconscious.
Your child’s vital signs are closely monitored throughout the procedure, including heart rate, blood pressure, and oxygen levels. This careful supervision provides added peace of mind for parents while helping your child remain safe and comfortable. After treatment is finished, the sedation wears off fairly quickly, though your child may feel slightly groggy for a short period of time.
