Pediatric DentistryKannapolis, NC

At Growing Smiles in Kannapolis, NC, our team is here to do more than provide excellent dental care. We want to help children build a strong foundation for lifelong oral health, confident smiles, and positive dental experiences from the very beginning.

That foundation starts with preventive care, including brushing, flossing, nutritious eating habits, and routine dental visits. Regular cleanings help protect your child’s teeth, gums, and mouth while lowering the risk of concerns such as tooth decay.

Cleanings & Exams

Routine dental cleanings are an important part of helping children avoid cavities and other oral health concerns. During your child’s visit, we carefully remove plaque and tartar from the teeth, then gently brush and polish their smile. We also complete a thorough, comfortable exam to confirm that your child’s dental development is moving in the right direction.

Dental Education For Parent & Child

One of the best ways to protect your child’s smile is to encourage strong oral hygiene habits at home. We take time to show both children and parents what an effective daily routine should include, so everyone leaves feeling informed, encouraged, and ready to keep those healthy habits going between visits.

Fluoride

Fluoride treatments can help reinforce and remineralize tooth enamel, which is the strong outer layer that protects each tooth. Because enamel can weaken over time from normal eating, brushing, bacteria, and sugars, fluoride gives your child’s teeth added support against acid attacks and helps keep their smile strong.

Sealants

Some teeth, especially back molars, can be harder for children to clean thoroughly. Sealants are thin protective coatings placed on the chewing surfaces of teeth to create a barrier against food particles and bacteria. This safe, quick treatment can help reduce the chance of cavities in higher-risk areas for years.

Composite Bonding (Fillings)

If your child has a cavity, a chipped tooth, or a minor cosmetic concern, composite bonding may be a helpful solution. Using a safe, tooth-colored material, we can repair small areas of decay or damage with a simple treatment that blends naturally with your child’s smile and provides durable results.

Pulpotomies

In some cases, a cavity can grow deep enough to affect the pulp, which is the soft tissue inside the tooth. A pulpotomy allows our team to gently remove inflamed or infected pulp tissue from the crown of the tooth while helping preserve the tooth until the permanent tooth is ready to come in. When appropriate, we offer safe sedation options to help your child remain comfortable throughout this effective treatment.

Crowns

When a child’s tooth is badly damaged or has significant decay, a dental crown may be recommended. Crowns, sometimes called caps, cover the entire affected tooth and are designed to restore strength, function, and appearance. Depending on your child’s needs, our doctors will review the crown options available and recommend the approach that best supports their oral health.

Frenectomies

A small band of tissue in the mouth, called the frenulum, can sometimes limit tongue or lip movement. Common concerns include tongue-tie or lip-tie, which may contribute to speech challenges, feeding difficulties, or other oral health issues. In these situations, a frenectomy may be recommended to release or adjust the tissue.

At Growing Smiles, we use a laser treatment approach to help make the procedure as comfortable and stress-free as possible for your child. After treatment, many children experience meaningful improvements in eating, speaking, and overall oral function.
